Abstract

New 5-methylisoxazole-3-carboxylate salts of formula (I): (where R1 and R2 are H, 1-6C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkoxyalkyl or cyclohexyl). (I) have antilipolytic and hypolipaemic activity. The prefd. cpd. is (I; R1=Me, R2 = CH2CH2OH). In an example, this is prepd. by reacting 7- 3-(N-methyl-N-hydroxyethylamino)-2-hydroxyethylamino)-2-hydrox- ypropyl -theophylline with 5-methylisoxazole-3-carboxylic acid.
