Abstract

The electric traction system is for use by cars on normal road. Unlike trolley bus systems, the car can use the full width of the road due to a multiplicity of overhead wires. The collector on the vehicle is U-shaped. The top has two conductor bars (12, 13) bent at right angles at their ends. These are separated by an insulating bar (14). The side arms (15, 16) are telescopic and consist of three tubes of rigid insulating material and a conductor which runs inside to the motor. The lower end of the tubes (17) pivots on the body side (10) and a support (21) on the chassis. The assembly is hydraulically operated.
