Abstract
The waveguide mode converter produces a higher mode from an input microwave. The converter consists of a rectangular section of input waveguide joined to the narrow end of a rectangular horn (truncated pyramid). A rectangular 'cage' of wires (9) is located inside the horn. The horn is made of a dielectric whose inside surfaces are rendered conducting. The rectangular sections may also be replaced by circular sections.
