Abstract

Metal sections (1) folded from sheet metal to form a U-section with curved legs (2) and outwards extending flanges (3). Two such sections are welded together at their flanges (3) to form a box section (5). Other sections are formed in the shape of a hollow T with flanges (8) so arranged that they fit on each side of the flanges (3) of the U-sections (1). These composite sections have longitudinal grooves (7) formed between the bar of the T-section and the legs of the U-section which facilitate the fitting of wooden members for forming door or window frames. Alternatively these grooves enable the sections to be embedded in the masonry of the walls of buildings.
