Abstract

Peinture à base de poudre de verre noyée dans une résine, ce verre comportant, selon le brevet principal un ou plusiers composés du mercure ou du cuivre fournissant des ions solubles dans l'eau qui détruisent les organismes aquatiques susceptibles de dégrader biologiquement la surface peinte immergée. Un deuxieme verre reparti uniformément dans la résine est utilisé pour contrôler la diffusion des ions biocides, de façon qu'elle diminue avec la vitesse relative entre la surface peinte et l'eau. Un verre sodocalcique à haute teneur en pentoxyde phosphoreux libérant des ions d'hydrogène peut constituer ce deuxième verre, l'agent biocide étant du borate de cuivre qui n'est soluble qu'en milieu acide et dont la diffusion est fonction exponentielle du pH de l'eau. Application aux revêtements de protection des coques de navires.
