Abstract
The cooling tower has heat exchangers at openings in the base, with a necked part above them widening out to the top. It includes a system to improve the draught at the top. The upper part has a set of blades (5a) one side, and another set (5b) of reduced height at the other side. The blades can then be opened on the windward side so that the wind enters at lower level and leaves the opposite side of the tower at a higher level. This assists the draught. An alternative design has a row of outlet holes around the mouth of the tower, and the wind is discharged vertically from them after passing through the blades.
