Abstract

The welding chamber has longerons which are located at each side and in the same plane. The welding chamber is bounded by two cross beams joined to the longerons. The upper part of the chamber is lined by a roof (9) fixed to the cross beams and has a duct. The inner chamber is enclosed by panels (13, 14) which are welded in place. There is a rectangular opening in the end panels which allows, the pipe to penetrate the welding chamber. A circumferential seal is fitted to the pipe being welded before pumping out the water.
