Abstract

A plate moulding (1) forming the decorative trim for an automobile is of roughly U-shaped cross-section with inclined sides (4, 5) and a flat base (3). Two parallel ribs (6, 7) project from the corners of the base (3) and one of these ribs has cut-outs (8a) which form tongues (8). A stud (2) has a serrated shank (11) and a flat elongated head (10). A second rectangular head (13) is attached by means of a dowel (16). The stud (2) is secured to the moulding (1) by pressing the rib (7) and tongues (8) into the slot (14) formed between the heads (10, 13). The bending of the tongues (8) and rib (7) is facilitated by the thin sections (9) near their roots. The moulding is then attached to the vehicle by pressing the shank (11) of the stud into suitable holes.
