Abstract

To allow escape of air and gas during the filling of casting moulds, channels are formed especially in the upper part of the casting mould, the said channels extending as far as the top side (5) of the casting mould. These channels are formed by means of a rod-shaped collar at least partially elastically flexible pattern part (4, 4') fixedly arranged in the pattern (2) used for forming the mould part. This allows the pattern part (4, 4') to yield without being damaged during the compression of the moulding sand.
