Abstract

The automatic ticket reader, for supermarket labels, credit vouchers etc. has the image of the ticket projected onto the target of a Vidicon tube. The image is scanned via multi-directional deflection circuits, until the scanning direction corresponds to that which allows the coded data on the ticket to be read and the resulting output signals are then analysed. Pref. the multi-directional scanning of the target is obtained by rotation of a drum (5) which carries the deflection coils for the Vidicon tube.
