Abstract

The simulated tiles for roofing may be of metal sheet, may be laid to overlapping or lattice-work systems, are secured by nails (H), and may be additionally fixed by edge-interlock normal to the major tile plane. The edge-interlock normal to the major tile plane. The edge-interlock is obtained by cutting and bending rectangular flaps in each lateral edge of the tile. The top and edge-parallel sides of the flap are cut then bent about the remaining edge to form an upstanding hook (A, B). The tiles may be of regular or irregular shape, and the abutting hooks of two adjacent tiles seat the basal edge of the above superimposed tile. Certain tiles may be of extended width with intermediate hooks formed by welded strips, and may be covered with asbestos. As an alternative the top and bottom edges may be folded under to form channels, and adjacent tiles are joined by a sliding insert of reciprocal form.
