Abstract

A device facilitating loading of lorries provided with downwardly-foldable side walls (2) supported by flanges (8) of uprights (1), comprises a sleeve (4) mounted on the lower end of each upright (1) and slidably inserted into a sleeve (5) fixed to a transverse chassis beam (3), so that the upright (1) fits between a pair of side walls (2) to lock them in the raised position. The flanges (8) are joined obliquely at their lower ends and permit the uprights (1) to be tilted slightly sideways to a position in which the oblique part of the flanges (8) are vertical to free the side walls (2) for folding down. The inner end of each sleeve (4) has an axial slot with wider part narrowing to a narrow part, so that partial retraction of the sleeve (4) from the sleeve (5) by means of a lever (7), causes the wider slot part to engage a transverse pin in the sleeve (5) to give the freedom to tilt slightly.
