Abstract
Process to reduce the quantity of energy necessary for the operation of spray driers involves the use of a gas turbine. The combustion gas is passed into the gas turbine which recovers the energy corresp. to the gas temp. drop (i.e. instead of diluting the gas with air the temp. drop is achieved by passing the gas through the turbine using the heat energy dissipated). The energy is transmitted from the turbine shaft mechanically or electrically. The turbine may be used to power the atomiser. The hot gases leaving the turbine can be used as drying gases.
