Abstract

The process is for the mfr. of a cellular mass, e.g foamed insulating material, and contg. a re-active agent, a liquid, and a foaming agent. Initially a foam is formed by mixing the foaming agent with a relatively small proportion of the total liquid content. The remainder of the liquid is then added whilst continuously agitating the mix, and finally the re-active agent is added drop by drop. The initial quantity of liquid may comprise 5-30% of the total liquid content, and the foam is agitated at median mixing speeds. The mixing plat may comprise a drum (1) with an agitator with two rotors.
