Abstract

The unit ensures that a missile missing its target will self destruct on slowing down. It comprises a pivoted (12) C-shaped jaw (14) having a weight (16, 18) at the end of each arm. One arm rests under a firing pin (O) preventing its operation. The other arm has a third arm (22) pivoting on it This third arm carries a weight (24) and is spring loaded (26). The centrifugal force due to the initial speed of rotation maintains this third arm open. As the missile slows down, the spring overcomes the centrifugal force and the arm moves inwards against the jaw to release the firing pin.
