Abstract

A heat deflector recuperator, is esp. for brazing tubes, and for mounting on the head of a torch. The heat deflector comprises a first part which guides the flame, the first part being symmetrical over part of its cross-section w.r.t. an axial plane of the torch head and ending with a splayed out end. The second part of the deflector has a semi-cylindrical shape which matches the shape of the tube to be brazed. The curved part of the deflector has an axis relatively perpendicular to the plane of symmetry of the first part and its concave side turned towards the first elongated part is situated on the same side as the elongated part w.r.t. the to plane tangential to the bottom of the extended part and is directly connected to the splayed out end of the extended part. Homogeneous heating of the parts and high temps. are achieved allowing brazing with coated BROX filler metal. Energy savings can be made. Silver soldering is possible without changing the position of the torch around the parts to be welded.
