Abstract
The trailing wheel (24) of the heavy vehicle is supported from a flange (18) under the chassis, with a damper (26) linking the pivoted arm (22) of the wheel to the underside of the chassis. The damper is braced on the chassis by a profiled rubber pad (32) which can tilt with the angle of the damper. The rubber pad provides a low wear upper bearing which can take large forces axially. The pad is contained in a flanged housing, whose size flexes with the force on the suspension. The suspension is compact with a large degree of movement and with large force capability.
