Abstract

The hospital bed is fitted with a stowage space for accommodation of a bedside table (8) which lies in the region of the mattress frame (1) to which a foot part (2) and a head part (3) are fixed. The lying surface is provided with a backrest (4) which is pivotable about a lower, horizontal axis. The stowage space is provided between the backrest (4) and the head part (3), and it is accessible via an opening in a longitudinal bar of the mattress frame which can be sealed via the bar part (7). The bar part (7) is articulated on the mattress frame via a hinge having a vertical axis of rotation, so that the bar part (7) can be pivoted into the position shown by dash-dotted lines. After transport of the bedside table into the stowage space the bar part (7) is brought into the closed position shown by full lines.
