Abstract
An ultrasonic method of inspection, partic. of tubes used to protect nuclear fuels, comprises sweeping the tubes with an ultrasonic beam. collecting the reflected ultrasonic wave and analysing and recording the signal. The signal is filtered around the sweep frequency, after the analysis and before the recording. The appts. includes, in addition to the transducer, the helicoidal sweep device, the reflected beam receiver and the analysis circuits, a band-pass filter centred on the sweep frequency, and positioned between the analysis circuits, and the recorder. Parasitic signals, due to the granular structure of the tubes, are reduced. The frequency impulses characteristic of a fault is that of the sweep, e.g. that of rotation of the tube under inspection. The parasitic signals have greater frequency and are filtered out.
