The composites are prepared by compaction in a press at >=10 kg/cm2 with a layer of compressible material between the press platen and the mixt. to be compressed. Novelty is that the ratio between the volume Vv of 1 kg of bulk aggretes and the volume Ve of compressed product formed therefrom into a definitive shape, is 1.3-2.5 (1.6-2.2). The light weight aggregates, which would not normally withstand crushing or deformation at pressures of >=10 kg/cm2 are undamaged.
