Abstract

Solar energy trap comprises a receiver and a transparent chamber which simulates a greenhouse effect. The receiver is composed of >=1 flexible tube of which at least the part of its surface orientated towards the sun is a dark colour. It is placed either in or in contact with the transparent chamber. The transparent chamber is formed from inflatable elements which either themselves form the chamber or alternatively support a transparent sheet which encloses the chamber. The inflatable support elements can be used to give a degree of orientation relative to the sun. It is partic. useful in situations demanding only intermittent use, e.g. heating a swimming pool. The appts. is light and easy to assemble and dismantle. It is therefore possible during periods of disuse to deflate the inflatable sections and having rolled up the component parts, to store the whole appts. in a relatively small space.
