Cylindre réfringent comportant des secteurs adjacents identiques, le profil du dioptre extérieur de chaque secteur étant choisi de telle manière que le faisceau horizontal incident sur la face intérieure soit transformé en un faisceau émergent horizontal dont l'angle est une fraction de valeur prédéterminée de la valeur de l'angle du faisceau incident et l'intensité a une valeur égale à celle du faisceau incident multipliée par l'inverse de la fraction dont l'angle est diminué, permettant ainsi l'émission de scintillements à la même distance que des éclats de plus longue durée mais moins intenses. Ce cylindre peut posseder des secteurs opaques ou intérieurement réfléchissants et être intégré à une optique d'horizon omnidirectionnelle. Application : phares de balisage à feux rythmés.
