Abstract

Phenoxypropanolamines of formula (I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts are new: (m=0-3; (=2 or 3; R1=H, lower alkyl or cycloalkyl; R2 and R3 are each opt. branched lower alkyl, dimethoxylphenethyl or phenylisopropyl; R3 can also be H. R=H, halo, lower alkyl, alkoxy or cycloalkyl, allyl, nitro or acetyl. 'Lower' alkyl have 1-4C.) (I) prepd. by sequential reaction of the appropriate phenol with an epihalohydrin and HNR2R3. (I) are cardioselective beta-adrenergic blockers useful in treatment of angina pectors and arterial hypertension at 0.1-0.4g/day orally or 25-100mg/day intravenously. The intra-peritoneal LD50 in rats is 64-256mg/kg. Specifically claimed cpd. is 1-(2-chloro-4-(4-methyl-tetrahydrofuran-2-yl)- phenoxy-3-isopropylamino-2-propanol .
