Abstract

The tiles (1) with integral cross-ties (3) may be used to build cavity walls. The titles (1) are installed on-edge, have a polygonal elevation and have the integral cross tie (3) projecting normally, from one major face. A row of tiles placed on-edge and in courses forms each skin of the wall, the tiles in successive courses are staggered longitudinally and the free end (11) of the cross-tie (3) fits flush in the bedding joints of the opposite skin to provide lateral inter-lock. The tiles (1) may be horizontally rectangular in elevation and the cross-ties (3) may project centrally to terminate in a right hexagonal head (1). The tiles (1) may also have a quarter hexagonal cut-out in each bottom corner and a demi-hexagonal cut-out in the centre of the top edge.
