Abstract

New native cellulose solns. in HCHO-contg. dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) can be spun to fibres or worked to films, membranes or foams. The cellulose has degree of polymerisation (DP) >=400. Cellulose concn. is >=6(8-20)wt.%/vol. DMSO. Wt ratio HCHO/cellulose is 0.2-2. Water contents is =5000 (pref. =2000)ppm. Solns. are free from undissolved fibres and gels, e.g. may have Ic index (clogging index) >80. i.e. very good to excellent, and Np (no. of particles) 200 (good to excellent).
