Abstract
Biological purificn. of liquids or residual liquors which are very organically polluted is described. Before treatment the liquid is first given a physical-chemical treatment to neutralise it and partly clarify it. The liquid is then passed through a bacterial bed filled with plastic to eliminate easily biologradable organic pollution susceptible to produce filamentous bacteria. The liq. is then led to an aerated lagoon for a period. The process is used partic. for effluent from olive oil works or other effluent changed with fermentable organic prods. The process has the advantages of giving a good yield, shorter residence time in the aeration basin and being cheaper than previousa processes.
