Abstract

A solar energy collector comprises two enclosures, laid on an insulating base, one on top of the other. Each is formed of self-supporting separate compartments. The first enclosure is in contact with the base and absorbs solar energy, a heat transfer liq. flowing through it. The second enclosure is made of material transparent to radiation and is under vacuum. The collector is more efficient than existing collectors, because heat losses are reduced. Fabrication is simple and can readily be carried out commercially.
