Abstract

The control system is magnetic and applies to the release mechanism (10) of the floats (1). The pipeline is normally transported with the floats (1) mounted horizontally each float being pinned to the straps (5). The tug (3) is fitted with magnetic actuators (15) and (16). If it is necessary to allow the pipeline to sink due to bad weather the float pins at one end of the float may be released individually in sequence or all together. The operating system is magnetic and will release the pins when the pipeline is insulated electrically by lagging on the inside or outside.
