Abstract

A portable machine for cutting grass and clearing bushes, comprises a small two-stroke engine connected to a tube containing a shaft transmitting power to a cutting head. The engine is protected by a casing provided with a ground stand, and surrounded by a plastic tank. The alloy tube has self-lubricating resilient washers for supporting the shaft. A plastics handle is clamped to the tube and is equipped with a sleeve. The cutting head may comprise a cutter disc or nylon cutter filaments. Each nylon filament is provided with an enlargement and extends through a hole of smaller diameter. Each filament also extends through a slot in a disc on the rotating shaft of the head.
