Abstract

Machine is for extracting marc from a fermenting vessel used in winemaking. The machine comprises a remote-cont-rolled, powered trolley which travels into the vessel. The trolley is furnished with a powdered rotor which chops up the marc and feeds the fragments to a suction head on the trolley. The suction head has a flexible duct connected to a vacuum system outside the vessel. When withdrawn from the vessel, the trolley pref. resis on a vertically displaceable platform which is pivotally attached to and mobile with a ground mounted carriage. The vacuum system, comprising cyclone receiver and suction pump, is pref. also mounted on the carriage conveyor to discharge cycloned marc and a separate outlet channel from which juice is recovered. Used for mechanised removal of marc from winemaking fermenting vessel. Eliminates need for an operator to enter the vessel. This can entail risk of CO2 asphyxia, even after waiting period, which is not longer necessary. The ectn. of marc is rapid, easy and does not hinder the production of high quality wine.
