Abstract

The control of a high power electron tube is established by replacing the conventional control grid type electrode with electrodes providing equipotential electric field surfaces existing in the surrounding of the electron beam source. A reduced surface of the cathode (1) is used. The equipotential surface (2) is circular in cross-section enclosing the cathode and further equipotential surfaces (3) shaping the desired electron beam.
