Abstract

Light transmission panels exhibit varying levels of transparency at 0-100 degrees C because of the presence between two layers of transparent or translucent sheets of a surfactant/solvent mixt. which produces a cloud point in the sheet transparency within the temp. range. Twin layer diffusers where the two layers are bonded by seams, isolate small amts. of the cloud point surfactant in each of a series of isolated pockets between the two sheets. Subdivision of the double glazed diffuser into several small unconnected compartments suppresses problems associated with the hydrodynamic pressure of the total surfactant/solvent material between the two layers. The sheet can exhibit different patterns of opacity at different temps.
