Abstract

Screw connection with sealing element, for joining fittings requiring a given relative rotational position when screwed together, comprises an annular gap with male and female threads, which can be varied in cross-section according to the depth of screwing, and in which is mounted a compression ring. The ring is radially deformed during screwing by a cone adjoining the thread of the screw pin. The ring pref. has a square or rectangular cross-section, and is mounted in a recess in front of the female thread, and the cone has an angle of 30 degrees. The ring may be made of soft metal e.g. Cu, Pb or Al, or plastic e.g. "Teflon" (RTM), rubber, etc.
