Abstract
The two metal bellows (4, 5) are mounted each side of the fixed component (3) in encased gas-insulated by switchgear (eg 110V) to compensate for changes in length in the tubular casings (1) due to thermal expansion. The tubular casings leading from the bellows away from the fixed component are linked by a rod (6) that spans the two bellows and the components. The advantage lies in simplicity and in improving the relief of transverse forces. (A contraction of one bellows is transmitted by the rod to give an expansion in the other bellows).
