Abstract
The Al alloy is obtd. by adding to a commercial type of Al of 99.8-99.9% purity, 0.01-0.06% In, 0.5-15.0% Zn, 0.03-0.4% Si, the percentages referring to those of the final alloy. The amt. of Si added is above the amt. contd. as impurities in the commercial Al, and the amt. of added Si plus the amt. present as impurity, as >=0.07%. The commercial type of Al contains as impurities about 0.02-0.08% Si, pref. 0.05% Si, 0.02-0.1%, pref. 0.08% Fe, and 150 ppm Cu pref. 0.01% Cu, apart from other trace impurities, and to this are added 0.01-0.03% In, more pref. 0.01-0.02% In, 1.0-8.0%, more pref. 2.0-6.0 %Zn, and 0.05-0.15 %, more pref. 0.08-0.13% Si, As consumable anode for the cathodic protection of iron-contg. structures.
