Abstract

The wheel rim is for bicycles having tubeless type tyres. The rim (5) is of Al alloy, of drawn U-section. It has similar side wings (6) joined by a base (7) which is slightly curved towards the centre of the wheel. Above this is a roughly parallel part (8). The base and other part (8) enclose a space (9) and the structure gives rigidity to the wheel rim. The ends of the wings (6) have upper parts (10) curved inwards slightly. These parts are to give a good seating for the tyre beads. This space (9) also serves to house the spoke supports which go through holes (12). There are further holes (13) to give access to the spoke heads.
