Abstract

1528145 Vehicle wheels W R GRACE & CO 20 Oct 1975 [30 Oct 1974 7 Nov 1974 20 March 1975] 43031/75 Heading B7C [Also in Division B3] A wire spoked vehicle wheel on which a tubeless pneumatic tyre is intended to be mounted is constructed to allow access to spoke nipples 28 from adjacent the radially outer face of a generally axially extending radially inner portion of a band 4 of the wheel. The construction allows spokes of the wheel to be replaced without removing a tyre mounted on the wheel. A wire spoked centre of the wheel is made by a method comprising forming the band 4, forming a hub 6, positioning the hub concentrically within the band, inserting spokes through holes in the hub and connecting them with nipples inserted through holes in the band, tightening the nipples, and machining the periphery of the band to a true radius.
