Abstract

The device reduces the flexing of the beam carrying the milling head to increase the precision of the machine. The machine consists of a fixed or mobile cross frame which has two uprights (1) connected together at the top by a beam on which is mounted a vertically sliding traverse (7) which supports a horizontal slide carrying the milling head. A beam (13) supports the weight of the slide and the milling head through jacks. The beam and traverse are supported in turn by cables (20) operated by jacks in the uprights.
