Abstract

The pincer type tool is for use in installing deforming split-sleeve anchorages in e.g. hollow partition walls, and has a folding parallelogram linkage (13, 14) between the main hand-levers (8, 9) and the mobile thrust plate (7). The parallelogram locates symmetrically relative to the bolt (5) axis and non-axial installation forces are eliminated. The tool has two inter-articulating hand-levers and a mobile (7) and a static (6) thrust plate. The static plate bears on the flanged head (3) of the deformable split sleeve (2) and the head (51) of the bolt bears on plate (7). The plate (6) is connected to the main lever hinge (10), and the plate (7) is connected to the remote node (15) of the parallelogram. The plate assembly (16) slides within the plate support (17), and withdraws the bolt (5) and nut (4) causing the sleeve (2) to deform. An adjusting screw through the hinge (10) pin may limit the travel of plate (7).
