Abstract

The valve of each radiator of a central heating system is controlled by an electric motor (4) mounted on the plate (1). The hole (6) fits over the valve spindle which is fitted with a sprocket driven by a chain from a sprocket on the motor output shaft (3). The motor (4) is so mounted that it can pivot about the output shaft (3) and is normally held in teh mid position by the tension springs (28, 29). The current supply to the motor (4) is controlled by an electronic circuit which includes a thermistor which senses the room temperature. When the temperature is to be adjusted the motor (4) rotates and opnes or closes the valve and then pivots about the shaft (3) until it strikes one of the limit switches (26, 27) and shuts off the current.
