Abstract

Appts. for detecting one of several given temp. thresholds, for an element which is subjected to temp. variations, partic. in an automatic washing machine, comprises a PTC resistor which is in thermal contact with the element e.g. immersed in the water, with a resistance tester. In a programmed control device is stored at least one programme for controlling supply to the PTC resistor at given intervals, for a given period for each temp. threshold. Each period corresponds to the time required by the PTC resistor to pass from each temp. threshold to the curie point of its material which is at least equal to the max. temp. to be detected. A selector is provided for the given periods, and one programme for controlling the resistance tester at least at the end of each selected period.
