Abstract

The drum brake pads mounted on a floating caliper embracing the cylindrical part of the drum (10), wherein the inner pad (12A) is mounted on an arcuate plate (20A) having at least one rib (27) to provide a straight surface (29) for engagement by a piston or pistons (15, 15') mounted on the caliper for operation of the brake. A single such rib may extend chordally in respect of the plate to provide engagement for two pistons spaced apart along the length of the rib. Alternatively, two ribs may extend axially in positions to be engaged by the pistons respectively.
