Abstract

The device has an electrode and an element designed to form an electrostatic image on the electrode. It has a first photoconducting layer designed to receive the electrostatic charge, and which can be switched between conducting and non-conducting states, by exposure to light. The layer returns to its non-conducting state when exposure to light is interrupted. The electrode has a second layer which is optically transparent and electrical conducting. A light beam sweep device is projected onto the first layer and through the second. An element connects the second layer to a memory designed to conserve data which corresponds to the charge value at points on the electrode.
