Abstract

The collector has two parallel headers (1) forming a flow and return for water to be heated. The headers are joined by a series of parallel tubes (2). A metal absorber plate (3) is attached to each tube (2) is such a way that it can pivot about the tube. There is a gap between the ends of adjacent absorber plates through which light can pass unabsorbed and the size of the gap is varied when the plates are tilted. Several such collectors are placed on the roof and sides of a greenhouse and can be used in place of blinds to adjust the amount of radiation admitted into the house. The radiation not admitted is then absorbed for water heating.
