Abstract

The screw conveyor has an Archemedian screw mounted on a horizontal shaft (7) which is supported between end bearings. The shaft is driven from one end through a gear X from the input shaft (20). A secondary shaft drives a secondary helix with solid sides which meshes with the helix on the first shaft. The secondary helix only has one turn. This helix is driven from the main shaft through an auxiliary gear which meshes with the drive motor. The input hopper to the feeder is located at one end of the main screw. Material allowed to fall into the feeder will be forced along by the auxiliary helix.
