Abstract

The elastic shroud, for an electrical connector, consists of two concertinas made of rubber or a similar insulating elastic material. They expand when the connector halves are generated and shroud the contacts thereby preventing them from coming into contact with metal objects or parts of the human body. Each shround consists of a conical part (11, 12) containing one connector half and a concertina part (13). The concertina has a collar (10) at its outer end. The collars (10, 10') of the two shrouds are shaped so that they mate with one another. To lock the connector halves together the halves are pressed towards one another thereby compressing the two concertinas.
