Abstract
A platform designed to rest on the bottom of a sheet of water and carry a bridge equipped with industrial or other equipment has a tower crane on an eccentric mast. The crane has a jib with a radial range of at least that necessary to reach any point on the platform and to a barge alongside. The mast is a column erected integrally with the structure of the platform and is fully capable of supporting the crane lifting the heaviest structural elements or modules forming the equipment. Pref. the crane is capable of lifting loads of at least 600 to 800 tons. the structure of the bridge may include a number where they are a required. In the absence of shelted sites with a great depth of water close to shore, and with a design in which the bridge cannot be jacked up unobstructed columns, a convenient means is provided of positioning very heavy loads irrespective of the height of the bridge above water. The erection and any modifications is completed on site.
