Abstract

1320174 Erecting towers MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 30 Oct 1970 [4 Nov 1969] 51852/70 Heading B8B A method of erecting a tower for supporting a plurality of smoke stacks 2, comprises assembling the lowermost part of the tower on a foundation, placing an uppermost part of one of the stacks 2 within the said tower part, mounting a crane 5 at the top of the said part of the stack, jacking up the uppermost part of the stack and connecting the next lower part to the bottom thereof, and using the crane 5 to assemble the next higher part of the tower to the lowermost part and to erect the other stacks 2. This sequence is continued until the tower reaches a height at which a platform 6 is erected by use of the crane 5, the platform being provided with a relay crane 7 for hoisting further tower and stack parts to the platform from which the tower and stacks are further erected, as before. A series of these platforms may be formed at equi-distances up the tower.
