Abstract
The crown wheel (17) of an automobile differential drive is provided with a parallel bore (27) and a square end face to enable it to be shrunk onto the diameter (27) of the pinion cage (1). The end face of the crown wheel (17) abuts against the flange of the cage (1). The attachment is made even more secure by electron beam welding the crown wheel (17) to the pinion cage (1) at the abutment faces. This construction of a differential drive utilising a shrink fit and an electron beam weld eliminates the need for bolts.
