Abstract

The converter has a float (A) which is mounted between vertical guides (E) and (F). The guides are anchored to the sea bed. The float is able to move freely up and down according to wave motion of the sea. The float is furnished with a vertical rod (G) one side of the rod is fitted with a rack which engages with a pinion (H) mounted onto a horizontal shaft (K). A ratchet drive (I) and (J) is fitted between the pinion (H) and the generator (L) so that the shaft does not rotate in the reverse direction when the direction of the float is reversed.
